A tribute to my mother
Listed in Current news, Beauty parlours , Feminism, Women's rights, Parenting
My mother Masuda Momin (Dolly) was a well-known personality among social and business circles both in Chittagong and Dhaka. She was involved in numerous social and charitable projects for the upliftment of the community. She has outdone her multi-various roles as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and was an icon for emerging businesswomen in Bangladesh.
Among her many establishments, she was the Director of NCC Bank, owner of Eves Beauty care, Director of Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
The sudden demise of my mother on 2nd November 2011 came as a complete shock to all of us. She was only 53. She had hemorrhagic stroke and passed away in her sleep.
My parents have provided us sisters the best in education abroad as well as given us worldwide exposure. We have enough medical grounds and common sense to identify if something was unusual about her death. Having being accustomed to living abroad in a transparent and uncomplicated society, it came as a great shock to me the way rumors have floated around among gossip mongers in the Chittagong society and our hypocritical residential area. This just shows the limitations and narrowness of a small-town mentality. Those who know my father will agree that he is a very successful businessman and a very well-reputed family man. He has always supported my mother in every single achievement of her life and will continue to support her unfinished projects. This is understandably envied by her peers.
Disreputable papers such as Jungato, Purbokon have printed fake information which has caused much anger among family members and close friends against the newspaper. We are obviously in the process of finding the cowardly people responsible for publicizing via internet and media such insensitive and fake information. The apparent woman informant of the article claims to be a close friend of my mother. If news in this country is based on gossip then I leave it up to the readers to analyze the integrity of these types of newspaper as well as question our conscience.
All these gossips have overshadowed her contributions to the community and we as a family would only want to focus in on her wonderful life and fulfill all her dreams and live up to her expectations.
Requesting all well-wishers to pray for my mother.

It was my luck that I've got a chance to work with her. She was such a strong and rare personality. I had visited her Eves Centre before it was open for public. I was really surprised to see her work... it was such a great place, the interior was stunning, the output was something normally we can't expect from a Bangladeshi woman.
