I am just a person who loves almost everything about women.

A National Campaign

A man being the bread-earner in a family is a common stereotype that prevails in our society.  Due to this economic prowess of the man that is viewed by most, a woman’s contribution towards her family, the society and the nation is undervalued.  This perpetuates the understanding that a man is superior to his counterpart and leads to numerous negative outcomes for women, along with being appointed to a lowered status that they do not deserve.

A person receiving 8 hours a day for the self may be considered to be ample, but not when she works for the rest of the per...

The Avoidable Consequence

How many times have we heard someone say, “Oh, we didn’t really plan on our 3rd child” or “She was an accident?” Then you see the couple bring up their “blessing” so well and hear them say stories about how proud they are of their “mistake”. Unfortunately not all pregnancies turn out to have such happy endings. The outcomes of such accidents can range from sterile abortions by professionals to messy, illegal methods of termination, most do not even go past the 1st trimester.

When Birth Control Goes Wrong

The prevalence of birth control products in Bangladesh especially among the upper classes might be considered to be a positive change in our overpopulated nation, however the lack of information and the frequent wrong application of such products is startling and terrifying. As a medical student, I often face strange cases in the emergency room. The worst kind is when young women come to the ER with incomplete abortions or who are so severely ill that their ill informed decision can mean a lifetime of suffering.

Many wome...

By Aiding Bangladesh Women, CARE Cuts Child Hunger

Women's empowerment is a popular mantra in international-development circles, linked to the premise that the most effective way to help an overall society is to invest in women.

But what does women's empowerment mean? How is it defined? Can we measure it?

How do providers of humanitarian aid support women's-empowerment projects?

The antipoverty group CARE finds in a March 8 report that investments in Bangladeshi women's health and social mobility correlated to a 28-percent drop in childhood malnutrition.
