Week 29

How your baby is growing
The curled up size is about that of a butternut squash which weighs two and a half pounds. If your baby could stand up she would be about fifteen inches tall.

Your baby’s head is now growing larger to make room for the ever-developing brain. This amazing brain can detect rhythmic breathing and also control body temperature. Research speculates that babies can dream by this stage of development.

Your baby’s adrenal glands are helping to make oestriol. This is thought to stimulate the production of prolactin which is responsible for the production of milk. This means that even babies born early will be able to breastfeed from their mothers.

How your life's changing
Your appetite will increase to match the third trimester of your baby’s growth spurt. Only at this point to resist eating too many cakes, sweets and fast food snacks - follow our tips for eating well at this stage of pregnancy. Make sure you're getting enough iron, which helps your baby make red blood cells. Iron supplements can make you constipated so it's a good idea to try to boost your iron intake first by including sources such as meat, leafy greens, and fortified cereal in your diet along with fibre-rich foods to help things move along smoothly.

Your exercise regime should have been established by now but if not, now is a good time to introduce some activities to help your body to stretch and open up ready for the birth. Why not try to find a yoga class specifically for pregnant women? Not only will it help you to breathe deeply, but the instructor will show you stretches which may help you get into and maintain comfortable positions in labour. Even the occasional stretch and wiggle can help you avoid pregnancy niggles such as leg cramps - so get moving and stretching!

Pregnancy tip: have fun while you still can

Watch a movie with friends, have a facial or a romantic dinner - do all the things you may not have time for once your baby is here." - Nikhila. Share your tips below or you can discuss with others on maya voice.
