Try Not to Feel Overwhelmed

Many women feel thoroughly overwhelmed in the beginning and surprised at how this tiny baby can completely consumes all their time. Initially it is hard to come to terms with the fact that you can’t pop to the shops easily or go to sleep when you like.

Don’t lose perspective. You may feel like this will go on forever. In fact it actually lasts for a very short period and once you get used to being with children all the time you’ll probably find it’s hard when your baby goes off to playschool and you no longer have someone to take to the shops with you.

Those baby and toddler years are undoubtedly much easier for women who have supportive relatives or grandparents living nearby or even helpful neighbours who will occasionally mind the baby for them. But friendships with other mums will be a great practical and emotional support and this is something available to all new mothers.
